Pitch work means competing for a piece of business before you've earned it — sometimes the concept wins, sometimes it doesn't, but the thinking behind it is real either way. What follows is a mix of both: work that won, work that opened a second round, and work that didn't move forward but still shaped what came next


Here, the agency already had nearly every global pharma account, but not Pfizer. This concept changed that. It won the pitch, and brought in the fish. I mean the really big fish. Maybe the biggest fish of them all.

This concept was an earlier attempt for the same business. It brought us to round 2 in the pitch, where we re-concepted and came up with the above.

The ask for this pitch was about tone. They wanted to get a sense of a TV spot but with no scripts. While these concepts did not move forward, much of the language in them did.


I was brand new to the agency and it was my first pharma pitch. Beginner's luck. They won the business, and 1.5 years later, while still freelancing at the same agency, I got to help on a brochure for that same brand.
